Elizabeth Reilly, President

Liz brings a history of dedication to and experience in community development in Africa, in addition to considerable non-profit expertise. Liz spent two years in Malawi as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching life skills and working with small-scale community development projects, prior to moving to Portland to work as a consultant for The Collins Group. Liz currently serves as a Membership Chair on board of the City Club of Portland.

Cara Pattison, Vice President

Cara’s first taste of Africa occurred on her 16th birthday, when she went to visit her grandparents who were living in Burkina Faso. After she graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in Communication Design, she returned to Africa, this time to Malawi, where she and her husband worked as short-term AIDS educators. Cara served as Bola Moyo’s Executive Director from November 2004 through July 2007. She is the former co-chair of the Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition, and is a current board member and volunteer of Jubilee Oregon. She continues to design Bola Moyo’s newsletters and marketing materials while searching for full-time employment in the field of graphic design.

Ronald Knapp, Treasurer

Ron is an Executive V.P. at Toyon Associates, Inc. (21 years) a healthcare financial consulting firm located in Northern California working with over 50 non-profit and governmental hospitals. Ron helps manage Toyon's staff of 36 and is involved with practice development. He has been actively involved in his local church having been on the Pastoral Team, Leadership Board, and as a Pastor to High School students during his 14 years there. Ron is a graduate of CSU, Chico and has a BS in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration.

Jerry Stayton
Jerry has a degree in accounting from Ohio State University, an MBA in finance from Golden Gate University, and over 45 years of accounting experience, much of which includes non-profit organizations. In his late fifties, Jerry and his wife Peg served for two years as associate missionaries in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Before this, Jerry held the position of Vice President of Business & Finance at Simpson University in Redding, California. Jerry is finally ready to retire from his position with the Christian and Missionary Alliance district office and is excited about what lies ahead.

Katharine Pattison
Katharine graduated with a degree in Communication Design from CSU, Chico. There she worked for three years as Assistant to the Coordinator for Student Judicial Affairs, and then as an After-School Consultant for the Newton Learning Corporation. She was the operations manager for Grilla Bites Restaurants for one year and in October 2005 became a partner with Starbucks Coffee Company. Katharine lives in Portland, Oregon, and enjoys exploring the parks, cooking, and her family.

John Pattison
John is a fundraising consultant based in Portland, Oregon. He specializes in grant writing for colleges and universities, school districts, and nonprofit organizations. John has also written for newspapers in Oregon, Nebraska, and California. He is currently the books editor for the Burnside Writers Collective and co-editor of The Ankeny Briefcase, a literary magazine. John and his wife, Kate, are expecting their first child in October 2007.

Matt Westbrook
Matt Westbrook has been on the board of Bola Moyo since its inception. He is currently a PhD student in Religion and Society at Drew University in Madison, NJ (though currently living in Portland). He is also owns and operates a grant-writing business and is a grant manager for Portland State University. He and his wife Grace expect their first child in December, 2007.
